Spiders
I found this guy in our garge this morning. I think it was probably dead as it didn't move when I put the yard stick next to it.

We also have black widows and brown recluses as well. I don't know what is worse. The black widows pretty much stay out of the way in the garage and shed. Maybe I should get some lizards or something.

Looks like it could be a Agelenopsis pennsylvanica or a Schizocosa ocreata. I'm no expert, just online trying to figure out the spider on my own porch screen. It's pretty big!

I found one of those tonight in my laundry room. I though it was a camel cricket from way off. Then I came up on it and realized it was a spider. I managed to kill it. I always had one in my room last summer. It was aparently on a pair of shorts i was about to put on but when I took them off the bed the spider fell out. Talk about scarey. Anyways, I gotta know what they are. Both times they were on the ground basically. Not in webs.

i've spotted three of these in the last week--two at home and one at work. no webs. have you had any input as to what they are? the term "wolf spider" keeps coming up when i search, but they all seem a lot hairier than your guy and my little family.

I have found 3 of these suckers in my home. One was in my 21 month old daughter's bed. I found one today in my bath tub. I am searching to find out what species it is. If anyone else cracks this code, please post it on the website!!!

I believe it is a non-poisonus borrowing spider. We had some small holes in the backyard. Once our cat pulled one out and used it for a toy.

yeah, i just killed one of these suckers right now. Thing was HUGE!! I've been trying to kill it for three days. Whenever I see it, i look for something to hit it with, but by the time i find something solid that is not valuable to me, like a slipper or shoe, it disappears. I finally killed it, but had to use my movie cover. I can sleep bettr tonight. I was afraid that it was a brown recluse, but, the pix say it is not.

I've been searching for over two weeks on what type of spider was in my house oll of a sudden. This is the exact picture of what the spiders we have look like. They've come out of no where and I've been scared to death it might be a brown recluse (common to our area). I sure hope not.

After hours of research I found out that this spider is a wolf spider. The website that talked about this specific spider did not mention anything about it being poisonous but it does bite. It doesn't look like any wolf spiders I have seen before. I used to live in California and the wolf spiders there never got as big as these fellas'. I say happy killing!!!

I went outside to get some laundry and I ran into a spider that looks like this. My dad went to investigate and we put it in a bag. We were looking on google for some pictures, because we want to know what it is and if its dangerous. The spider in the picture, do you know what it is? Please email me - bout2rock@aol.com Thanks

Actually...here in South Texas, those spiders are common....they RESEMBLE a wolf spider somewhat...but they aren't. Construction sites are a good place to find these because of all the excavation taking place brings these guys out. As far as this guy not moving when the yardstick was placed next to it.....I've seen this happen....they shed their skin as they grow, leaving a perfectly intact shell, so this is probably just it's shell, and he is still out and about someplace. I know they bite, but they aren't poisonous. They are most likely to run away from you. A friend of mine had a tarantula as a pet, and one day he woke up, and he thought there were two of them, only to find out that one was just its shell. I touched it, and it crumbled. Don't mean to alarm you though but I'd spray!!!

yeah so I just blasted one of these arachnids with my airsoft gun, blew his rear clean off, well not so clean on the wall. I'm not so worried about dying or being mamed as I am waking up in the night scraping one off my face that bit me. Spiders are naturally nasty to us but the can be very helpfull. I advise evryone to let the daddy long legs live because they do not creep in on you, they do however have a knack for killing unsightly bugs and will mind their own.

ok so I did some more research about it and it looks like a Wolf spider, common found throughout the world in different variations. IT IS poisonous and aggresive very painfull bite however not lethal. It catches prey by running after it, no web, kill these bitches at all cost

I just killed one of these in north dakota. It was alittle darker brown, but had same markings and was bigger then a quarter.

I don't know it's scientific name, but the picture taken is certainly what we call a "wolf spider," though also referre to (I think) a "ground spider." And that's the main reason for why you're not seeing them in webs and usually on the ground. They hunt and feed by buroughing. They're extremely agile and fast, a bit hairy (hence the name) and prefer to be outside. As I've found, they aren't harmful but will "nip" if their personal space is compromised. I live in lower-west Michigan, and they're extremely common here, much to my mother's dismay.

I have what appears to be three bites. i live in asheville, north carolina and the day after i realized these bumps (one on my face, shoulder and next to my nipple, ya my freecking nipple!!!!) the day after noticing these bumps i found a spider just like this in my room. i am completely horrified that it is a brown recluse...if anyone has a solid answer please post it.

Also found one of these and was very interested in knowing what it was. It appears to be, Schizocosa mcooki, or a Wolf spider. Found this at kaweahoaks.com/html/spiders.html. good luck to all.

Well I live here in Oklahoma, and where I lived right before i moved i saw those suckers everywhere. They like dark places.Like the attick, under the carpet, closets. They run along the edge of the wall fast until they get cover.
Another thing you should watch out for is picking up laundry, becouse they love laundry.
I still dont know what they are called, but they look like they have a fiddle on their back so i thought it was a fiddle back, but its not. What is it?

Would just like to point out that there are a few jumping spiders with those kinda stripes. They don't make webs, they can jump really far to catch flies and ants and the like, and they have amazingly big eyes (for a spider). If you put something up close to one, it will turn to watch the strange item. They like to watch humans if they get close, too. They don't attack anything bigger than themselves, though, so as long as you don't go trying to squash one with your finger, you most likely have nothing to fear from them. I haven't heard of any poisonous bites from one, either. And if you try to move at it very quickly, it'll probably try to run away.
So . . if a spider is jumping at things, not just running them down, it might be a jumping spider instead of a wolf spider. And jumping spiders are very intelligent, very curious, but not very dangerous at all!
