Midwest Cage Championship 1

April 24th, 2006 @ 1PM  | comments:0 | Permalink

Lately I've been helping a Des Moines based MMA/Cage fighting promotion company with their marketing. I design the tickets, poster, and I set up, host, designed and built the website, www.midwestcagechampionship.com.

They have done 2 excellent events, MCC1 "The Beginning", MCC2 "Midwest Xplosion". I recently finished a highlight video from footage from MCC1. The next event will be held in Des Moines on May 20th. More info is on the website.

GTD Hipster PDA

February 28th, 2006 @ 8AM  | comments:0 | Permalink

I've been using the Getting Things Done (GTD) method for a few months now after reading about it on Lifehack and 43 Folders. I found some printable DIY templates for the Hipster PDA. My printer, an Epson Photo 200, doesn't like to work with the 3x5 index cards, but it does do borderless printing on 3.5 x 5. So using Illustrator I made some templates of my own borrowing some from the DIY templates, from other Hipster PDA templates I found online and some of my own design. I made some 3.5 x 5 templates with a extra wide border on the right side. Works fine with the Photo 200. I am putting the pdfs here for anyone to use.

Updating XBMC

February 18th, 2006 @ 10AM  | comments:1 | Permalink

More for me but here it is if anyone else needs it.

  • The whole XBMC is installed under e:\apps\XBMC.
  • At the root of C: there are the files Evoxdash.xbe and XboxMediaCenter.xml.
  • Replace the contents of e:\apps\XBMC
  • Customize XboxMediaCenter.xml
  • Under c:/ evoxdash.xbe and default.xbe are the same file from the new build.

If you don't update this binary in both locations, you're actually left with your old version using upgraded skins, xmls & scripts. But the binary is still the old version!

Site moved and images

January 24th, 2006 @ 6PM  | comments:0 | Permalink

I finally got the site moved and settled on a hosting server. I also had a chance to look at the logs and see where my bandwith was going. So if you were stealing my bandwith by hotlinking images from reames.org you will now see some good ol' anal sex pics. HA!

It also seems like this site might be getting more traffic than I thought, so I am going to try and post some more. Yea, we'll see how that goes.

RIP Sherman the Bulldog

October 4th, 2005 @ 10AM  | comments:2 | Permalink

Some of you may remember my dog Sherman. He was my companion for many years, lots of tough stuff we went through and lots of good times too. I had him from 93 to 2000 when, because of a layoff and move he went to live with my parents. He was happy with them and they were happy to have him.

I got an email from my dad yesterday saying that Sherman passed away in the night. He was about 13 years old. That's a long time for a bulldog and he lived a good, spoiled life. He will be missed.

Podcasts

September 21st, 2005 @ 10AM  | comments:1 | Permalink

Ok, so after about a 3 month gap I've got back in listening to Podcasts. There are about eleventy billion new podcasts out there. I'm still listening to the same ones as before, The Daily Source Code and The Rock and Roll Geek Show. I also found some one is doing a MMA Podcast, I'm glad because I never did get around to doing mine. I still might, I don't know. I also subscribed to Robert Cringley's Nerd TV. I also listen to the MMA Weekly radio show, it's not a podcast, but I'm a member so I have access to the archives.

Just today Adam Curry was talking about his daughter being on a podcast called Emo Girl Podcast. Turns out it is Micheal Butler of Rock and Roll Geek's daughter. I like the music on it, I don't think I'm really into "Emo" to me it sounds just like the some of the music I was listening to almost 20 years ago, when I was into straight edge. Someone told me once that Fugazi is considered Emo music. I still like any music with "energy". At 34 am I too old? Wait, the guys from Green Day are the same age as me.

If anyone knows of any other mma or music podcasts let me know.

stephanbonnar.com

We finally got DSL in our townhome, so I can get back online outside of work.

I also wanted to mention that I have The Ultimate Fighter, Stephan Bonnar's website, www.stephanbonnar.com, live. It's got everything there but I still want to add some more to it.

I got a package from Stephan for doing the site, all I asked for was my regular pay and a t-shirt and autograph. But what he sent was way cool. I got a pair of the same shorts he wore in his fight against Sam Hoger, one of his shirts, a Tapout cap, some signed trading cards, and two TUF posters autographed for each of my sons. But the coolest was a signed pair of the gloves he used in his first two MMA fights. How rad is that? Now I just need to find a display case for the them.

Hays Area MMA Club

May 31st, 2005 @ 2PM  | comments:7 | Permalink

If you live in the Hays, KS area and practice or are a fan of Mixed Martial Arts(MMA), Brazillian Jiu Jitsu, Muay Thai, UFC, Pride FC, etc, please contact me. I am looking to find other people to train with or just get together and talk about MMA, etc.

I've started a Hays Area MMA mailing group on Google. Feel free to sign up and participate. I will also be scheduling regular get togethers at a local restaurant or bar where we can meet and talk about what's going on with MMA today.

I've been trying to start such a group in Hays since 2003, and I hope to start focusing a little more on getting this group going. Please feel free to pass this information and link www.reames.org/hays-mma to anyone else in the Hays, KS area that might also be interested. Thanks.

UFC Gets Fuzzy

April 28th, 2005 @ 8AM  | comments:0 | Permalink

Edit: Looks like the Get Fuzzy site only has archives a few weeks back.

Description: In the comic Rob Wilco (human) is sitting on the couch watching tv. Satchel Pooch (dog) asks "Oh my what's this?" Rob replies "It's called The Ultimate Fighting Championship." Satch replies "Goodness me... it's quite violent." Then Rob says "AAAA it's really just boxing... aand then kneeing the guy in the head... hmmmm... Satchel finishes "... is that thing his head?" And Bucky Katt (cat) then says, "This is SO much better than sissy boxing!"
